How much?

The Fair Work Commission (FWC) has made the decision to increase the minimum wage by 3.5%.  This  will increase the minimum Australian wage to $719.20 per week, and the hourly rate to $18.93 per hour.  This will add up to an extra $24.30 per week for an employee on the minimum wage.

When?

This increase will apply from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2018.

Who?

Any employee who is getting paid the legal minimum under a Modern Award will get a pay increase.  It is employer discretion to increase the rate of pay, if they are getting paid above the new minimum.

What should I do?
